Matrix Composites & Engineering is currently recruiting for a Senior Design Engineer, to join our Head office in Henderson on a full-time basis. The role will be responsible for product design, including validation and verification, as well as sales and production support.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager the successful candidate will, through the application of engineering principles and practices, be responsible for creating, collating and conveying technical data, specifically; design fabrication, material properties, product and marketing information.

Other key responsibilities will include:

  • Mechanical engineering design skills including but not limited to
  • Stress Analysis
  • Design of structures and mechanisms
  • Materials selection (polymers and metals)
  • Assisting in the continual improvement of existing product lines.
  • Assist in marketing strategies for various product lines
  • Determine whether new developments and innovations would be reliable and cost effective
  • Compose and conduct testing on prototypes and collect and analyse test data.
  • Review and approve engineering plans and drawings
  • Configure and maintain relevant  product BOM’s in the ERP system

About You

The ideal candidate will have;

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 7-10 years’ recent experience in a similar role   
  • Skilled in 3D Modelling and FEA Simulation packages using Solidworks
  • Strong technical writing skills, excellent communication, problem solving and decision making ability.
  • Working knowledge with ERP systems and BOM configuration
  • Experience generating design basis, mechanical stress analysis and calculation reports.
  • Design of structures and mechanisms

We are looking for someone who has knowledge of applicable Australian standards and experience in Subsea design and/or a working knowledge in corrosion resistant metals and alloys for subsea conditions, would be considered highly advantageous.

Offshore experience will be well regarded.
