Easy to handle and easy to transport

Matrix's modular installation buoyancy system is used for mooring and installation purposes. The bouyancy is comprised of closed cell syntactic foam covered by a tough integrated fibreglass and aramid skin.

Our modular installation buoyancy system is available in a variety of sizes, depth ratings and uplifts ranging from 14 kg to 150,000 kg.

  • Buoyancy balls
  • Buoyancy cuboids
  • Buoyancy tablets
  • IsoBlox™ block system

No matter the requirement we have your installation buoyancy requirements covered.

Buoyancy balls

Buoyancy balls are suited for small installation buoyancy needs. A 45mm through-hole allows the buoyancy balls to be threaded onto a large diameter rope or sling. Multiple balls can be strung together to allow greater uplift. The balls have a robust polymer shell which provides protection during transport, handling and operation.

  • Range of uplifts between 10 kg to 69 kg
  • Depth rated to 3,000 msw

Buoyancy cuboids

Buoyancy cuboids are economical structures that provide greater uplift than buoyancy balls.

KEY FEATURES

  • Range of uplifts between 329 kg to 500 kg
  • Depth rated to 3,000 msw
  • Easy to handle and attach - upper and lower eye bolt
  • Easy to stack and transport - flat sides
  • Robust GRP skin which reduces buoyancy damage during transport, handling and operation.

Buoyancy tablets

Buoyancy tablets are used when uplifts between 500 kg and 2,500 kg are required at depths of up to 3000 msw. Buoyancy tablets are a simple way of providing mix and match solutions for a range of offshore installation and construction tasks.

KEY FEATURES

  • Range of depth ratings -  500 msw to 3,000 msw
  • Easy to handle and attach - upper and lower load rated pad eye
  • Through member/ pad eye designed in accordance with DNV offshore standards and delivered with a NATA load test certificate if required
  • Easy to stack and transport - flat sides

IsoBlox™ block system

Matrix's IsoBlox™ is suitable for mooring and large offshore installation tasks. The system is highly versatile as the blocks can be fastened together to produce any number of customised shapes, sizes and uplifts ranging from 3,000 kg to 150,000 kg or more.

KEY FEATURES

  • Cost effective, flexible solution
  • Can be re-assembled into different configurations as requirements change
  • Damaged elements can be removed rather than replacing the entire module
  • One set of modules for all requirements
  • Faster turnaround time as new buoyancy is not required when needs change
  • Easily customised to most uplift requirements
  • Range of depth rating from 500 msw to 3,000 msw
  • Easy to handle and attach - upper and lower load rates pad eyes
  • Through member/ pad eye designed in accordance with DNV offshore standards and delivered with a NATA load test certificate if required.

The buoyancy pictured was used to support the installation of an 18" In Line Tee that will be submerged and placed on the seafloor at a depth of 250 m. The structure was built for use on one of the most significant oil and gas projects in the world located off the coast of Western Australia and weighs 103 MT in air and provides 150 MT of uplift in seawater. The structure created was 12.3 m high and 6.44 m long.
